The Future in Good Hands
In the last week of Term 3, over 100 family and friends of our Year 7 students joined us in the Discovery Centre to celebrate the powerful learners we have in our Year 7 classes. For the 10 weeks of Term 3 our students worked collaboratively on a 21st Century Learning initiative called Project Based Learning.
The project started with one key question- How can we make the world a better place? To answer this, our Year 7 students imagined, researched, designed and built cities for 100 years in the future that showcased their innovative solution to a citywide sustainable approach to power and water supply.
For the entirety of Term 3, our Year 7 students researched and gained the necessary skills to work as engineers, town planners, environmental scientists, architects and marketing specialists to develop their innovative new spaces. They produced essays, 3D models, worked with STEMSEL kits, plotted maps on Cartesian planes and collected data from both primary and secondary sources in-order to persuade their family and friends to sell everything they own to move to this new city.
What a powerful learning experience this was, not only for the Year 7 Students but for their teachers as well. Congratulations Year 7 on an extremely successful term of learning, we are so proud of you!
